A Unique Class of High-Temperature Fluoropolymers
ECCtreme™ ECA fluoropolymers combine the beneficial properties typical of fluoropolymers with the ability to maintain peak operational performance under extreme temperatures and conditions. These products offer:
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Superior electrical properties
- High service temperatures, going beyond the long-standing 260 °C (500 °F) limit in wire, tubing, and molding applications
Features and Benefits
This unique class of high-temperature, melt-processable fluoropolymers offers a low dielectric constant, dissipation factor, and coefficient of friction while driving function to a higher level than regular fluoropolymers provide. Additional properties include:
- Outstanding electrical insulating properties at high temperatures
- A UL-listed 300 °C (572 °F) rating¹
- Increased stress-crack resistance
- Exceptional chemical resistance and improved permeation resistance to CH₄, O₂, CO₂, and water
- Robust melt processability
- Low flammability
Pushing Boundaries
ECCtreme™ ECA fluoropolymer resins facilitate epitaxial co-crystallization (ECC) because their function improves when heat-treated up to 300 °C (572 °F)¹. It is designed to meet the demand for high-temperature fluoropolymers in sustainable energy production, such as geothermal energy, and the oil and gas, military, aerospace, chemical, and automotive industries.
Applications include:
- Wire and cable
- Injection- and compression-molded parts
- Extruded tubing
- Exhaust sensors
- O₂ sensor wiring
- Transmissions
¹The Underwriters Laboratory Inc. (UL) certified the ECCtreme™ ECA fluoropolymer resins with a 300 °C (572 °F) rating for a minimum thickness of 0.75 mm,² the first to achieve this temperature rating.
